Once again Spring Sew Sampler will happen at Gardiner Community Center in Sequim. Carpooling is always a good idea. Someone in the car will know the directions, and lots of good ideas get shared along the way. We will start the program promptly at 10 am, so come early for coffee and schmoozing.
This year we are pleased to feature four presenters: Ann L., Karen O., Roxann, and YOU. Karen and Ann are long-time Silverdale ASG members and are always lively and informative. Roxann is relatively new to our Silverdale chapter. Be sure to introduce yourself and get to know her. She is fun and interesting, with a wealth of sewing knowledge.
The fourth presenter is YOU. Please bring things you have been sewing (finished or not) for Show and Share. This is how we learn from each other’s interests and get a chance to see our chapter’s diversity. You may learn about a neighborhood group you would like to visit or who you might call for help with a project.
As always, we will be having a potluck lunch. Put away last fall’s heavy, comfort food recipes and bring back your lighter, tastier, fruitier spring recipes. If you bring something especially tasty (and who doesn’t?), please be prepared to share the recipe.
If you have never been to Spring Sew Sampler, we start the morning with a table of pastries and beverages. Lunch is around noon, also with beverages provided.
Come for the new information, the door prizes, and the great time getting together with members from other neighborhood groups. I’m looking forward to seeing you at our Spring Sew Sampler!

Success with Fusible Interfacings
Roxann will show you how to use a variety of quality interfacings to achieve the best results when constructing any garment.
Learn how to choose the right interfacing, fuse properly, cut your fusibles,
and keep your ironing surface adhesive-free. The Palmer Pletsch line of PerfectFuseTM interfacings is featured in this class and will give us a chance to try our hands at it. Roxann is a Certified Sewing Instructor for Palmer Pletsch.
Ann has recently done some beautiful work with Sashiko embroidery. She will share a little about its history, techniques and tools, as well as ways to apply it to a variety of sewing projects. Then we will get a chance to try our hand at it.
Sewing with Sweater Knits
Sweater knits are everywhere this year. If you're a non-knitter, or don't have time to knit, sewing sweaters from knit fabric is an easy and fast alternative. Learn some suggested techniques to work with sweater knits to make cardigans and pullovers for cozy additions to your wardrobe. See examples of patterns and how to adapt them to different style looks, as well as examples of RTW and refashioned sweaters.
